Tamar Avishai Named President of Hub & Spoke

Boston, Mass.—June 27, 2025—Hub & Spoke, the Boston-born collective of high-quality creator-owned, independent podcasts, has a new president: Tamar Avishai, the creator and producer of the acclaimed art history podcast The Lonely Palette and a co-founder of the collective.

She takes over from Soonish producer Wade Roush, who had led the collective since its founding in 2017. Avishai served as the vice president during that same eight-year period; Roush now assumes that post. Together with treasurer Nick Andersen, senior editor at Ministry of Ideas, Avishai and Roush make up Hub & Spoke’s executive leadership committee and are the three voting members of its board.

“Ever since the seeds of Hub & Spoke were planted at a noisy potluck in a crammed Somerville apartment, and took root as more independent shows joined us, looking for a home, this collective has meant the world to me,” Avishai says. “Pushing forward its vision of a place for outstanding independent podcasts is a sincere honor and priority, especially in a podcasting landscape where craft, creativity, and community are more important than ever.”

“It’s been my joy and privilege to work with such talented colleagues and friends over the last eight years, as we’ve built a community of people who care deeply about independent podcasting and about finding ways for indie audio producers to thrive in an era of constant change,” says Roush. “I’m thrilled to hand the reins to Tamar. I know that her leadership skills, her creativity, and her love for the medium will serve the collective well as we move into the next phase of our growth.”
